JoAnne Goodwin Elmore, 87, of Palmyra, Mo., died November 27, 2022, at her home surrounded by family and friends. When a Catholic guy from Lowell named Bob asked her out, Elsa said yes. When they wanted to get married and some disapproved, Elsa eloped with him. And after they were married, Elsa left her job to start a family. Elsa’s interest in history helped their son Stephen find a career in historic preservation; her interest in art led to their son Scott’s career in design. Marilyn V. Dunker, 82, of Kinderhook, Ill., died December 18, 2022, at her home in Kinderhook.

Chris and her husband Gene have two wonderful children, Christina of Clearwater, Florida and Chad of Hannibal. Her hobbies include music, reading, playing cards, traveling, and most of all spending time with her family and friends. Since the age of 13 Chris Ledbetter has been playing piano and organ for weddings and funerals. She subbed for Anna May Chandler, when she was in high school and has been with the O’Donnell staff since Mrs. Chandler’s death in 1984.

Born & raised in Hannibal, MO, Wendy graduated from Hannibal High School and furthered her education at Culver-Stockton College, where she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. After graduating college, Wendy moved to San Diego, CA for several years until family obligations called her back to America’s Hometown.

Among his interests, he enjoyed golfing, bowling, traveling, and hanging out with his friends (particularly breakfast on Sundays with his fellow church-goers, and Friday nights with the boys at "The Fours"). Elsa Edith Stowell died on December 15, 2022, after a very long life and a very short illness. She was the daughter of Emil Alfred Nilsson and Johanna Ida Nilsson, the half-sister of Walter Gottlieb Wiede, the sister of Emil Oscar Nilsson, and for almost 60 years the wife of Robert “Bob” Stowell, who died on January 22, 2020. Elsa was born on January 22, 1932, in the house her father built at 5 Yale Street in North Chelmsford--the only house she ever lived in. She grew up as an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, which was then the center of the Swedish immigrant community in South Lowell. Elsa sang in the choir and played center forward on the girls’ basketball team.
Traveling to New Orleans or to Las Vegas to listen to the music, eat good food, and take in the culture was something Dianna loved doing whenever she got the chance. She also enjoyed going to the Memphis in May Beale Street Music Festival with her sister, Rosa and her daughter, Stacey. Watching all genres of movies, cooking Mexican food, and simply spending time with her friends and family were moments Dianna cherished most. FitzGerald and the brother of the late Virginia FitzGerald, Donald FitzGerald, Raymond FitzGerald, Paul FitzGerald, and Dorothy Hudzik. Elsa repeatedly outlived everything from a broken neck to a COVID-19 infection. When Bob’s dementia progressed, Elsa decided to move into memory care together so she could keep an eye on him. Wherever they were, Bob and Elsa kept making friends. And whenever Elsa met somebody in need, she wanted to help them.
